Danone is recalling several Aptamil and Cow & Gate infant and follow‑on formula products due to the possible presence of cereulide toxin in some batches. Cereulide is a toxin produced by certain strains of Bacillus cereus and can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.
The FSA has advised that cereulide is heat stable and is not destroyed when infant formula is prepared in line with NHS guidance. As a precaution, the affected products are being recalled to protect infant health. Only the specific products and best‑before dates listed above are affected.
Customers who have already purchased these products can visit the Aptamil website at aptaclub.co.uk to check whether their batch is affected. If customers still have products from the affected batches at home, they should not use them. These products can be returned to the store where they were purchased for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
For further information or advice, customers can contact the Aptamil Careline team on 0800 996 1000 or visit https://www.aptaclub.co.uk.
