This online course covers common causes of allergic reactions, symptoms of anaphylaxis, how to use adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPen®, Emerade® and Jext®), and how to manage allergies in the workplace, including allergen avoidance, employer responsibilities, employee responsibilities, risk assessment, Allergy Action Plans, storage of adrenaline auto-injectors and practical scenarios relevant to workplaces.
This course takes approximately 1 – 1.5 hours to complete, at a time that suits you.
To complement this online course, we recommend you order trainer adrenaline auto-injector devices to practise with. Order these directly from the manufacturer’s websites for free: EpiPen®, Jext® and Emerade®.
It’s important for employers and employees to work together to create a safe working environment for people with allergies, whether the workplace is an office, healthcare setting, university, retail or outdoor working environment.
This course is designed for all staff in any workplace. The course is for employers, employees with allergies and their colleagues, to ensure the whole workplace is allergy aware, understands the importance of allergen avoidance and knows what to do in an emergency.
Creating a working environment where employees can safely do their jobs is part of an employer’s duty of care under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The most serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) usually begins within minutes and can be life-threatening. The more staff that are allergy aware, understand the importance of allergen avoidance, know the signs of an allergic reaction and what to do in an emergency, the safer everyone with allergies in the workplace will be.

This new AllergyWise® for Workplaces course has been produced by our Online Training and Education Manager and qualified teacher, with support from our Information Team, with a wealth of knowledge about allergies and anaphylaxis. The course content has also been clinically reviewed and reviewed by workplace staff.

No, the pass mark for the final assessment is 80% but you can re-do the assessment multiple times if needed. There is also no time limit for the final assessment.

The enrolled user will then receive an email with their account login details so they can access the training. Each staff member needs their own account to complete the course individually.

Your group leader, who is the person who purchases this course for your workplace, can enrol you onto the course. They can either assign user email addresses themselves to enrol staff directly, or they can distribute a shareable link for users to sign up themselves. Each staff member needs their own account to complete the course individually.

No, all of our AllergyWise® courses are designed to be done individually. If you give your login details to someone else, the quizzes and course assessment will have already been completed by you and they will not be able to get a digital certificate of completion.
After passing the final assessment, you will be able to download and save your digital certificate of completion by clicking on the ‘print your certificate’ button.
You can also download your digital certificate of completion by logging into your account and clicking on the certificate icon in the Training area.
