Two nurse specialists have spoken about their initiative to set up a paediatric community allergic clinic at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust to improve access to expert care for children with allergic conditions.

The award-winning initiative was developed by allergy clinical nurse specialists Anne Biggs and Adele Durge who recognised the unmet needs of children with allergic conditions. They found that education of self-management early in the child’s allergy journey improved outcomes in the prevention of allergic diseases, quality of life and reduced reliance on healthcare.

Anne Biggs spoke about her work as an allergy clinical nurse specialist and what it is like to manage a paediatric multidisciplinary team in a podcast with Anaphylaxis UK earlier this year.
