Anaphylaxis UK is the only UK-wide charity focused on supporting those at risk of severe allergies. We have been providing information and support to patients and their families for over 25 years.
Anaphylaxis (pronounced ana-fil-ax-is) is a serious and often sudden allergic reaction. It can occur when someone with allergies is exposed to something they are allergic to (known as an allergen). It’s a whole-body response, requiring emergency treatment. Reactions usually begin within minutes and progress quickly, but can even occur up to 2-3 hours later.
It can be really frightening if you or a loved one are diagnosed as being at risk of anaphylaxis, but remember – you’re not alone. We’re here to support you on your allergy journey and provide all the guidance you need, as and when you need it, to help you manage your allergy and live as safe and fear-free a life as possible!
We offer training for teachers and all school staff. We encourage a whole school allergy awareness approach – the more staff who understand allergy and how to recognise an allergic reaction, the more likely your school will be able to safely manage allergic pupils.
Check with your school and ask if they have done our training.
Anaphylaxis UK is the leading expert on serious allergies. Our experts are supported by a clinical and scientific panel to provide expert insight into health and scientific issues related to serious allergies, and associated research and advice on policies and activities.
