About the role

Trustees play an active role in strategic planning, scrutiny, questioning the impact of our work and holding the programmes to account and, where necessary, acting as a critical but supportive friend. They are also responsible for the legal, financial and compliance duties of a Board.

We are looking for an enterprising individual to join our Board of Trustees, to contribute actively in giving strategic direction to the charity, setting overall strategy and policy, evaluating performance and in providing good governance. Ensuring the Charity applies its resources exclusively in pursuing its business objectives and exercises due diligence in financial and audit & risk management, are integral to Board governance.

You would be expected to contribute to the Board’s discussions by-

  • Leading on financial /audit & risk matters for the Charity
  • Overseeing & scrutinising the financial underpinnings of the annual and three-year business plans
  • Ensuring an effective risk and opportunity management framework and an effective system of internal controls to manage the organisation’s performance
  • Support the Board’s leadership in undertaking statutory duties, including contributing to and approving annual report and accounts

These are challenging times for charities in an environment of economic and social turbulence and we wish to ensure a sustainable and vibrant future now that the charity has turned 30 years old in 2024.
