If you have an allergy problem, query or question then we want you to call our helpline team!
Our helpline team love to answer your questions about allergies and reactions and put your mind at rest over the things concerning you. They’re available by phone and email 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, ready and waiting to handle your problems!
During 2014, our lovely Helpline team answered over 2,603 queries overall (calls, emails and Facebook queries). The issues they dealt with ranged from medical questions to schools issues, product labelling questions to travel problems.
Although the Anaphylaxis Campaign is a membership organisation with over 5000 individual, professional and corporate members, our Helpline is not just for them. Only half of the calls and emails received in 2012 were from our members. We provided information to nurses and medical staff, schools and food companies, too, as well as loads of concerned allergy sufferers and parents of allergic children who aren’t members.
Our Helpline team are keen to provide support in the form of a listening ear and good advice to give allergy sufferers and parents confidence in managing the risks associated with their or their child’s allergic condition.

The Helpline team can answer queries on a range of problems, including:
- Queries from parents, schools and nurses concerning long term management of severe allergy, emergency medication and protocols
- Queries from organisations, such as food companies, concerning issues on ingredients and labelling
…And if they don’t know the answer, they’ll do their best to find out and get back to you as soon as possible!
The Helpline doesn’t just help you, though. It is key to the Campaign’s understanding and experience of what it is like to live as a severe allergy sufferer. This is important, as we are often asked to provide the patient perspective and so can inform how studies are set up and what research protocols should be used. In turn, research results are used to update our Allergy Knowledgebase and direct how we provide information and advice to callers. So it’s a two way street, the more we help, the more we know and the more we can help you!
