Anaphylaxis Campaign welcomes new Chair of Clinical and Scientific Advisory Panel

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is pleased to announce that Professor John Warner OBE, Emeritus Professor of Paediatrics, Imperial College, London and Hon.Professor University of Cape Town, South Africa, has become the new Chair of the charity’s Clinical and Scientific Advisory Panel.

Now semi-retired, Professor Warner was the consultant paediatric allergy and chest physician at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Professor of paediatrics at Imperial College London. His past appointments include Director of Research for the Women and Children’s Clinical Programme Group, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust; President of Academic Paediatric Association (GB and I); and a Senior Investigator in the National Institute of Health Research. He was also Editor in Chief of the medical journal Paediatric Allergy and Immunology from 1998-2010.

In 2014, Professor Warner was awarded an OBE for his services to food allergy research.

Speaking about his new role with the Anaphylaxis Campaign, Professor John Warner said:

“I am delighted to take on this role. The Anaphylaxis Campaign has achieved an enormous amount in the last 27 years which has improved the health and quality of life of countless allergy sufferers. There is now the opportunity to increase the focus on research to identify targets for therapeutic interventions and to enhance the quality of clinical care which will improve the long-term outcomes of people with acute allergies. The Clinical and Scientific Advisory panel will play a key role in advising the Campaign on how this can be achieved.”

The role of the Clinical and Scientific Advisory Panel is to provide the Anaphylaxis Campaign with expert insight into health and scientific issues related to severe allergies, associated research and advice on related policies and activities. The panel currently consists of over 20 members.
