Chief Executive of the Anaphylaxis Campaign Lynne Regent was delighted to attend the launch of a new allergy education film on Orange Wig Day

The film called ‘A Day in the life of Chloe’ follows the real-life story of 18-year-old Chloe Fitzpatrick, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, who lives with a severe allergy to strawberries.

Lancashire County Council’s Trading Standards and Public Health team launched the project with an event at the Civic Arts Centre in Oswaldtwistle on Friday 18^th May 2018 with the support of the family of Megan Lee, who sadly died on New Year’s Day 2017 from a suspected severe allergic reaction.

Megan’s family and friends have worked with the Anaphylaxis Campaign tirelessly to raise awareness about severe allergies and anaphylaxis since her tragic death. Chloe and her sisters Sophie and Lucy, together with Megan’s best friend Sophie, performed a ‘A Day in the life of Chloe’ as a play in a moving tribute back in March 2017. The story has now been adapted to educate and inform schoolchildren what day to day life is really like for someone with a severe food allergy.

Lynne Regent, Chief Executive of the Anaphylaxis Campaign, said: “I was delighted to speak at the launch of ‘A Day in the life of Chloe’ in Lancashire and support Megan’s family who have done so much to raise awareness about anaphylaxis.

 The film and the resources produced by Lancashire County Council are excellent and I hope that schools will take part in this initiative so more young people will understand just how serious it is to have a severe allergy and what they can do to support their friends.”
