Update on the delay in supply of Jext 300mcg
The following alert appeared on our website a couple of weeks ago:
We have been alerted to the fact that in certain parts of the country there may be a temporary delay in the supply of Jext 300 mcg adrenaline injectors. We have been assured by the Jext distributors, ALK-Abello, that the issue only applies to Jext 300 mcg and does not apply to Jext 150 mcg. We have been informed that normal supplies of Jext 300 mcg will be resumed the week commencing 25th June 2012.
If you are having problems getting a Jext 300 mcg your pharmacist should be able to dispense an alternative injector (they may have to discuss/check first with the person who prescribed the injector). If this happens, make absolutely sure that you are shown how to use the alternative device as it is likely to be administered in a slightly different way to Jext.
In the unlikely event that an alternative device is not available and you have an adrenaline injector that has recently passed its expiry date, it’s better to use this device than not use it at all.
After using your injector dial 999 or get someone else to do it. Immediately after your adrenaline has been administered you will need to get to hospital because the symptoms can return and you may need further treatment.
