Volunteering for The Anaphylaxis Campaign

It's National Volunteers Week - a BIG thank you to all our Volunteers.

At The Anaphylaxis Campaign we are always eager to get new people involved. If you are interested in volunteering for us, there are plenty of ways in which you can make a difference.

Introducing The Anaphylaxis Campaign Local Information Volunteering Experience (LIVE Volunteering)

In recognition of the fact that our members lead lives too busy to always offer regular volunteering support we have introduced LIVE volunteering as a way to offer opportunities to those of you who may want to be involved on a more ad hoc basis.

LIVE volunteers will be involved with the distribution of information about the work of The Anaphylaxis Campaign a few times a year. You could get involved by delivering our posters to local establishments who you feel would benefit from displaying our information - e.g. libraries, community centers, schools, GP surgeries, sports centers and many more. We will send you the pack of posters: all you need to do is use your local knowledge to help us raise awareness across the U.K.

There is no obligation to help more than you have time to and we are open to suggestions as to how you think we may operate most effectively in your local area.

To sign up as a LIVE Volunteer email us

We are also looking for volunteers in a number of other roles:

Local Support Groups

We are always looking for willing and dedicated volunteers to run local anaphylaxis support groups, providing the types of services that those affected by anaphylaxis or severe allergy and their families require. If you would like to help with local outreach or events, we would love to hear from you. You do not need any previous experience, only the willingness to run your group with the help and advice of representatives of the campaign.

Meet us, learn more

If you are not sure that you can currently commit to running a group, or are not sure of the capacity in which you would like to get involved, we are always happy to provide information to help you to set up local coffee mornings. More ad hoc than a local group, these still provide invaluble support and advice in a relaxed and informal environment.

Campaigning

If you wish to campaign for The Anaphylaxis Campaign, you are in good company!

We work with the National Allergy Strategy Group (NASG) to lobby for a change in allergy services. We also liase closely with the Department of Health and other government divisions to raise awareness of independent patient cases and anaphylaxis as a whole.

Supporting Events

Come along and get involved in promoting our work by helping out at an event; recent events include The Allergy and Gluten Free Show

Head Office Support

Get involved in the work we do from our Head Office in Farnborough.  We very much value the role of Volunteers in helping deliver on many different projects where additional resource provides invaluable help.  Working with us can also provide work experience and add to your CV.

Working with us as a Volunteer is by no means limited to the above. The Anaphylaxis Campaign has a highly skilled staff and board of trustees, but is always keen to talk to anyone who may have skills we can use to further our work. If you contact Mandy below detailing the area that you are interested in she will point you in the right direction.

Testimonials

“I contribute to The Anaphylaxis Campaign by helping to write copy for articles and for the website – the experience keeps my skills fresh and helped the Campaign move forward with a number of projects where internal resource wasn’t available.” - Zoe Regent (Volunteer)

"I volunteered to do some work at The Anaphylaxis Campaign's head office in order to gain some vital work experience in marketing and PR. I found the experience extremely useful and interesting, and became involved in a wide range of activities that ensured I gained an insight into the work that they do." - Hannah Neenan (Student)

Sarah Chapman is the mother of 4 children, her son has multiple allergies "I started volunteering my time, when my son was quite young. Running a support group gave me the chance to meet others with children with allergies. The Anaphylaxis helpline gave me so much information and support that it seemed logical to support the campaign undertaking a whole range of activities to raise money and promote the campaign".

For more information on any of the above contact Mandy East on 01252 893850 or email us.
