Fundraising in Schools

The Anaphylaxis Campaign welcomes fundraising projects at schools around the UK.  School fundraising initiatives are a great way to support the Campaign and educate school-aged children on the dangers associated with of severe allergies and the importance of respecting and accepting classmates who may be allergic.

We hope the ideas below will get you thinking about ways your school or class can support the Campaign and raise awareness of severe allergies.  Remember that your options are not limited to the ideas mentioned here!  We’d love to talk to you about other projects/events you may have in mind.

Sponsored Events

When we think of sponsored events, we often think of sporting events (a donation for each mile run, or each length swam), but really a sponsored event can be just about anything you can imagine!  jumping boy image
  • Sponsored Read - Students can ask their parents and family members for donation for each book they read or for each page read for more difficult books

  • Sponsored Silence – This can be done either at home or at school.  How long can you keep quiet?  Ask family and friends to double their donations if you beat your target time!

  • A Sponsored Spelling Bee – Students can ask for donations for each word spelled correctly, or for each letter of the longest words

'Mufti' or 'dress down' days

On these special days, students are allowed to wear casual clothes rather than their school uniform.  Or why not have a non-uniform day with a theme and ask pupils to wear particular colours or fancy dress or even to dress as characters from history that are currently being studied.

 School Fete

Ask local businesses to donate food/refreshments and entertainment or games to keep the costs of organising the Fete as low as possible.  You can choose to charge an admission to the festivities and/or charge for food and participation in games.   Remember to make sure that all food products carry accurate allergen labeling!

Who’s the baby?

Ask teachers for photographs of themselves as babies and photocopy the photos onto a sheet.  Make copies and take the sheets round and sell them.  You will need a prize for the first person to correctly match the teachers with their baby photo.

Collections at school plays and concerts

We can provide you with collection tins and all you need are a few volunteers to greet people at the doors and ask for donations!
