The Anaphylaxis Campaign Workshop Programme

Youth workshops - Youth workshops are held across the UK for food allergic youngsters aged 11-18. The day runs from 10h30 – 16h30 and includes lunch. The aim is to learn how to assess and manage the risks associated with food allergy through interactive sessions including discussion and role-play. The emphasis is on fun, and the youngsters gain great benefit from meeting others who face the same challenges.

Parent workshops - These workshops are held for parents of food allergic children who are at nursery, infant or junior school (aged 3-10). Each workshop runs for four hours covering topics such as schools issues; eating away from home and letting go.

Youth/parent workshops - These new format workshops are for food allergic youngsters aged 11-18 together with a consecutive workshop in a separate room for their parents, joining together in the middle of the day for 1 session. The youth side will be the same as the information above and the parent also the same as above but focusing on teenage issues.

Family Fun Days

The Anaphylaxis Campaign hold Family Fun Day so members have a chance to get together in an informal setting and share tips and experiences on living with allergy. These events are open to all the family and feature games and competitions to help children up to the age of 11 understand their allergy better. Liquid refreshment is provided and Campaign literature is available on the day.

Further details of the timetable of Family Fun Days can be found in the events calendar above, in the newsletter and also by letter direct to our members. Places are limited so it is advisable to book early.

Support Groups

Support groups are run by members of the Anaphylaxis Campaign who have volunteered their time to enable other members to get together and share experiences of living with severe allergy. Many of the groups meet regularly and children are often welcomed.

For more information on whether there is a group running local to you please contact Mandy East, National Coordinator on 01252 373793 or mandy@anaphylaxis.org.uk or see the events calendar above.

Public Awareness Meetings

The Anaphylaxis Campaign regularly hold meetings where members can hear speakers from a variety of sectors such as the medical profession, the food industry and Campaign central office. The meetings offer an opportunity to ask questions of professionals as well as purchase Campaign merchandise and meet other members.

The meetings are open to all and if you are a member you will be informed directly when there is an event local to you. The meetings are also listed in the events calendar above.
