Milk protein in clothing

Clothing company UNIQLO have produced HeatTech, a range of cold-weather garments made from fabric which includes a rayon mix with milk proteins added.

Our Campaign experts have advised that there is a small but conceivable risk that milk-allergic individuals could develop a reaction to skin contact with the milk proteins with either urticaria, eczema or in very sensitive patients conceivably anaphylaxis. Additionally, If used in infants, there is also a concern that this could be a route of primary sensitisation to milk.
