Sainsbury’s nut/peanut labell

 

Sainsbury’s have launched their product list for people avoiding nuts and peanuts. There are also 15 other lists of products suitable for people avoiding other allergens, including several combined lists, for people avoiding more than one allergen. Sainsbury’s would like to highlight to people with a nut and/or peanut allergy, that in addition to labelling peanuts and tree nuts separately in the ingredients list, as is required by European law, they also declare peanuts and nuts separately in their allergy advice box on their own brand products, so nut and/or peanut allergic customers can make an informed choice about whether the product is suitable for them or not. You should be cautious though, as not all supermarkets or manufacturers have this policy of separately labelling nuts and peanuts in the allergy advice box.

Sainsbury’s would however always encourage customers to double check with a medical professional as to whether it is safe for them to be able to consume other nuts if they have a diagnosed peanut allergy and vice versa, as these allergies are strongly associated
